Docktor Who and the Vulcan salute
Just like the post on Happy prime numbers in Doctor Who, I was pleased to see the Vulcan / Spock gesture from Star Trek used in Doctor Who. In the fifth episode in the fourth season of the revival series, a door needs opening. Seems like a trend that, these doorways.
Regarding doors, the door into the Tardis is also peculiar in a different way, as it is a really simple door with a regular key, it marks the transition between normal space superspace, “it’s bigger on the inside”.
Back to the door in the need of a opening. It has a handprint reader looking like this.
The door is inside a Sontaran spaceship, and as an alien species, the Sontaran have three fingers. Confronted with the opening mechanism, Donna says to the Doctor that it requires three fingers, to which he replies, “You have three fingers!”. Watch a clip of the scene below:
The situation Donna found herself in made me smile. She realized quickly that she indeed had the three fingers too. So do you and I. I can’t help making this three fingers gesture myself all the time.
